Houthis torture 4 journalists by freezing weather, says PM
[28/11/2018 09:30]
ADEN-SABA
Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik said the Houthis tortured four journalists by stripping them off clothes and exposing them to the freezing night weather of Sana'a on Monday.

In a meeting with the visiting UN delegation led by UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Andrew Gilmour in the temporary capital Aden on Tuesday, Abdulmalik said the journalists in an intelligence jail run by the movement "endured the cold weather for four hours before they were beaten severely to get them to confess to charges."

He said the Houthi violations of human rights have been for years committing an endless series of atrocities and human rights abuses and this incident is only the latest. "The militia have not respected the inviolability of civilians. They have planted thousands of landmines in houses and public roads everywhere (in the country) including in small villages rendering hundreds of civilians maimed," he said.

He said that thousands of civilians among them tens of journalists rounded up to the movement's jails long ago "are still unaccounted for."

The radical movement wiped out all forms of dissent and free press in their areas of control, he added. He said the movement are unfortunately also continuing to recruit child soldiers. "To sum it up we are facing a movement of mass destruction," he said.

Recalling the latest report of the Group of Independent Eminent International and Regional Experts on Yemen was shockingly biased because of its lack for accurate information.
