YCMHRV meets secretariat of UN working group on arbitrary detention

Members of the Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations (YCMHRV) met in Geneva on Tuesday the secretariat of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Special Rapporteur of the Committee on enforced disappearances in the UN Human Rights Council.

During the meeting, they discussed the human rights situation in Yemen and the serious violations committed by the Houthi militia.

The YCMHRV recounted the detention and enforced disappearance experiences endured by number of people in the prisons of the rebel militia, especially the story of journalist Anwar al-Rukn who died three days after his release from jail and journalist Abdullah al-Munifi who suffered all kinds of torture in two years of detention.
