Hodeidah liberation will alleviate humanitarian crisis, says info minister
[13/06/2018 03:18]
RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Information Muammar al-Eryani said that the government's liberation of Hodeidah seaport from Houthi rebels control will effectively contribute to alleviating the severity of the humanitarian suffering in Yemen.

In a statement to Saba, he said that the rebels' influential warlords have been looting the revenues of the Red Sea port ever since they seized the port in 2015.

Rather, he said, they are using those revenues to finance their coup d'état and insurgency which have incurred thousands of civilian casualties, undermined Yemen's political transformation, and damaged Yemen's social fabric.

He said the rebels have been using the port to admit into Yemen smuggled arms including ballistic missiles that have been used as a threat against Yemen, Saudi Arabia and other countries.

He said that the rebels have never showed any concern to civilians as they keep up their bloody insurgency and loot the public resources.

He said that Hodeidah's liberation will contribute to bring the rebels to the negotiation table and restore the political process in Yemen. It will also end the terrorist threats to international shipping.
