Yemen's Vice President Lt. General Ali Mohsen has brought to the US ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller's attention Iran's continued interference in Yemeni affairs and supply of weapons and other military and logistical support to the rebels (coup militia).
The Vice President said Iran offers the rebels support through various ways, a posed threat to international shipping safety and the security of Yemen and the region.
Ali Mohsen called on the international community to take a serious stance to stop this interference and to assist the Yemenis to recover their state and empower them to be able to deter Iran's expansionist plans.
Ali Mohsen and the US ambassador focused their talks on bilateral cooperation especially in the fight against terrorism and the US exerted efforts to support the Yemeni state and end the coup.
The Vice President commended the US support to the Yemeni state and commitment to Yemen's security, stability, unity and territorial integrity. He acquainted the American diplomat on what Yemen's leadership is doing to make peace and stop the coup-induced widespread suffering among Yemenis, compromises based on the three well know references for peace. The references are the GCC Initiative, the National Dialogue Outcomes and the UNSC resolution 2216.
He also acquainted Tueller on the latest political developments and developments achieved on the ground, with Arab support, to restore the state authorities, mainly the legislative, in order to guarantee a protection for the Yemenis, building of their federal state and caring for the friendly nations' interests.
