Presidential Leadership Council member Lt. Gen. Mahmoud al-Subaihi called for greater progress in resolving Yemen's prisoner and detainee file during talks on Monday with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Meeting ICRC Head of Delegation in Yemen Christine Cipolla and senior members of the organization's team, al-Subaihi stressed the importance of continued cooperation to facilitate humanitarian access and address urgent humanitarian issues arising from the country's prolonged conflict.
He praised the ICRC's role in supporting vulnerable communities and helping broker prisoner-release and exchange operations, expressing hope that further advances would reunite more families and alleviate the suffering of thousands of Yemenis.
The discussions also covered the ICRC's humanitarian activities across Yemen, including assistance programs, civilian protection efforts, and initiatives aimed at promoting compliance with international humanitarian law.
Al-Subaihi emphasized the need for closer coordination between government authorities and humanitarian organizations to ensure aid reaches those most in need and to advance solutions to pressing humanitarian challenges.
