ADEN - SABA
Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh has stressed the importance of international cooperation as a fundamental and indispensable pillar in achieving global health security.
During his participation Wednesday in the opening of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Pandemic Fund (Pandemic Fund), in his capacity as Chairman of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the Council, he said that confronting cross-border epidemics, such as the Ebola virus in Africa, requires real concerted efforts and high-level coordination between all parties and international partners by strengthening Monitoring systems, laboratories, prompt reporting, and the joint coordination mechanism to achieve global health security.
Minister Buhaibeh highlighted the need to take practical steps to enhance the Fund's role as a catalyst for supporting national health systems, noting the importance of prior coordination and overcoming procedural obstacles to ensure that support reaches those who deserve it in record time.
The two-day meeting will review important strategic topics, such as financing mechanisms for the most needy countries, and strengthening incentive strategies for joint financing to ensure the sustainability of health programs.
The meeting will also discuss ways to maximize the use of the Pandemic Fund's resources to strengthen national capacities in member states, with a focus on the importance of the quality of proposals and their readiness for implementation, which Minister Bahebah strongly pushed during his deliberations to ensure the effectiveness of the response
