PLC Mahmoud al-Subaihi Meets US Ambassador on Ending Tenure

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi, met today via video conference with the United States Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, on the occasion of the conclusion of his diplomatic mission.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest political, economic and humanitarian developments in Yemen, as well as prospects for strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two friendly countries.

Lt. Gen. al-Subaihi expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Fagin’s role during his tenure in Yemen and the efforts he made to enhance Yemeni-American relations and support peace and stability initiatives.

He also commended the ambassador’s contribution to mobilizing international support for the Yemeni government and helping alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Presidential Leadership Council member reviewed a number of challenges currently facing Yemen led by economic and humanitarian challenges and their direct impact on citizens’ living conditions.

He stressed the importance of continued international support for the government and state institutions to help promote stability, improve basic services, and support development and reconstruction efforts.

Al-Subaihi praised the United States’ supportive positions toward Yemen, its unity, security, and stability.

He also expressed appreciation for the humanitarian and development assistance provided by the United States to the Yemeni people over the years, as well as its efforts to support state institutions and strengthen their capacity to address current challenges. He wished Ambassador Stephen Fagin success in his future endeavors, commending his positive contributions during his tenure and his role in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

For his part, Ambassador Fagin expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Presidential Leadership Council Member Lt. Gen. Mahmoud al-Subaihi for the cooperation he received during his time in office.

He affirmed that Yemen will continue to receive the attention of the United States and its ongoing support for efforts aimed at achieving peace, stability, and development.

Ambassador Fagin also noted that the United States will continue working with its regional and international partners to support the Yemeni government, strengthen state institutions, and enhance humanitarian response efforts.

He reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to maintaining coordination and cooperation with Yemen’s leadership in a manner that serves security and stability in Yemen and the wider region.
