Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Buhaybah, discussed with a team from the International Rescue Committee (IRC), led by Deputy Country Director for Programs Julie Hefner strengthening partnership and expanding current and future health interventions, including primary healthcare, mental health support and chronic disease programs.
The meeting reviewed key joint programs, particularly the project on enhancing communication and community health awareness, along with mechanisms to measure and improve its impact.
The minister emphasized the importance of IRC support to the health sector, stressing the need to strengthen community awareness to combat vaccine misinformation and expand access to remote areas, noting that vaccines are the most effective solution to preventable diseases.
Ways to enhance community participation in the health sector were also discussed.
For her part, Julie Hefner reaffirmed the IRC’s commitment to continuing support for health programs in Yemen, especially in maternal and child health, and to developing impact measurement tools to ensure effective results.
