TOKYO - SABA
The Japanese Government announced today, Wednesday, the provision of a new aid package to Yemen worth about $13.8 million from Japan's supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, to meet urgent humanitarian needs and promote peace in Yemen.

The Japanese Embassy explained in a press release learned by the Yemen News Agency (Saba) that the aid package targets crucial humanitarian sectors, including nutrition, health, protection of internally displaced persons and refugees, response to natural disasters such as floods, improving access to water, reproductive health, preventing gender-based violence, combating mines and providing protection and support to victims of armed conflicts.

The embassy stated that these initiatives will be implemented in partnership with international organizations, such as the World Food Program (WFP), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The Embassy noted that Japan has consistently contributed to supporting the development of infrastructure in the country, including efforts to improve the efficiency of the Port of Aden, repair city roads, ensure children have access to quality education, and provide vocational training for youth in the labor market.

Japan has also provided support for capacity-building programs for Yemeni government employees through a number of training courses.
