The second World Summit on Social Development kicked off today in Doha, Qatar, bringing together over 8,000 global leaders, heads of state, ministers, and representatives from the United Nations, civil society, academia, private sector, and youth.
Yemen's Prime Minister, Salem Saleh Ben Braik, is among the dignitaries in attendance, leading a high-level delegation to discuss pressing global social development issues.
The three-day summit, themed "Together for Inclusive and Sustainable Social Development," aims to renew global commitment to people-centered development, address persistent gaps, and reaffirm dedication to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, inaugurated the summit, emphasizing the need for collective action against global challenges hindering economic growth and threatening social peace.
He stressed that social development is not a choice, but an existential necessity, and urged renewed commitment to the UN Charter and multilateral cooperation.
