NEW YORK-SABA
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an immediate end to military operations in the West Bank.
He voiced his deep concern over recent developments, including Israel's launch yesterday of large-scale military operations in Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas governorates, including air strikes that resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
In a statement attributed to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric noted that the Guterres strongly condemned the loss of life, including children, calling for an immediate cessation of such operations.
The UN Chief also called on Israel to comply with its relevant obligations under international humanitarian law and to take the necessary measures to protect civilians and ensure their safety.
