Maritime Affairs Authority Discusses with European Nordic Support Foundation Enhancing Maritime Security
The Chief Executive of the General Maritime Affairs Authority Faheem Saif met Monday with the Regional Director of the International Support Foundation for the Nordic Countries Qasim Douali. The two parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of maritime security, pollution control and enhancing the Authority’s technical capacities.

Yemen participates in UNEP Permanent Agents' 166 meeting in Nairobi

The Republic of Yemen has participated in the 166th meeting of the Permanent Agents in United Nations Environment Program is being held in the Kenyan capital Nairobi by a delegation headed by Charge D'Affaires of Yemen's Embassy Abdulsalam al-Awadhi.

In Yemen's speech he delivered in the meeting, al-Awadhi pointed out to Houthi terrorist militia's attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea led to huge damages on marine environment in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden by targeting ships carrying on boards chemicals and oil materials.

Al-Awadhi called on the international community and the United Nations to support the Yemeni government and put pressure on the militias to stop targeting ships in the Red Sea.

The Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program presented a comprehensive report on the program's role in the first half of 2024 and on the conferences that will be held in the second half of 2024.

The meeting discussed the preparations for the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which will be held in Riyadh next December.
