[17/04/2024 06:39]
ADEN-SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi conducted a phone call Wednesday with Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak to follow up on the developments of the low-pressure condition.

The low-pressure condition has started to have its effects in the past few hours on the eastern provinces with varying intensities of rainfall and the flow of flash floods in the provinces of al-Mahrah and Hadhramout.

President al-Alimi listened to the Prime Minister's report on the coordinated government measures and precautions with local authorities to address the repercussions of the low-pressure system, mitigate its potential impact on citizens, public and private properties.

He directed the government and local authorities to raise the state of preparedness and double the precautionary measures in coordination with various agencies, including the military, security, community committees and regional and international organizations to minimize the effects of the low-pressure system and work on more sustainable policies to enhance the capabilities of early warning centers and adapt to climate variations, especially in the eastern provinces of the country.

He praised the measures taken by local authorities in the provinces of Hadhramout, al-Mahrah and Shabwah, whether in terms of guidance and early warning, deployment of evacuation and rescue teams, or the opening of public roads.

The Early Warning Center expects the coming hours to witness varying intensities of rainfall, reaching heavy rainfall on deserts, plateaus, and coasts of the provinces of al-Mahrah, Hadhramout and Shabwah, in addition to parts of the central, northern and western provinces.

The Center issued a warning to citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to exercise caution and be wary of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail, and to avoid being in the valleys and watercourses during and after rainfall.

The Center stated that the coasts of the provinces of Shabwah, Hadhramout and al-Mahrah will experience maritime disturbances and high waves, and it urged seafarers and fishermen to pay attention to this matter for their safety.
