Chinese car sales surges 26.4 percent in the first quarter of 2024

Sales of passenger cars of Chinese brands increased by 26.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024 as some 3.39 million vehicles were sold during the mentioned period.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement published by the Chinese news agency (Xinhua) that about 3.39 million Chinese-branded vehicles were sold during the period. The Association noted that the market share of the same cars increased by 7.4 percentage points year-on-year to reach 59.6% during the mentioned period.

In March alone, nearly 1.33 million vehicles were sold, with market share up to 7.2 percentage points from a year earlier to 59.3 percent.
