Water Minister participates in Group -77 meeting

Minister of Water and Environment Tawfeeq al-Sharjabi has participated Tuesday in the Ministerial Meeting of Group 77 and China on Climate and Development Convention is being held here.

In the opening ceremony, which has been attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Inés María Chapman, Minister of Water pointed out in his speech to necessity of realizing justice in development and active partnership with developed and less-developed countries, defending environment issues and building green economy based on the balanced management natural resources.

Minister al-Sharjabi pointed out that the climate changes are shown clearly in Yemen, which has become threatened of losing the biological diversity, increasing pollution, collapse of infrastructure and complicating dangerous structural problems, which lead to increasing poverty and threatening shaking food security over the current war with Houthi rebel militia.

He talked about accomplishments made by Group 77 and China and unifying visions towards a number of issues in the developed and underdeveloped countries.

He reviewed what has been accomplished in these issues and decisions made in conferences of climate changes like establishing the specialized funding for losses and damages and additional fundings in Paris Agreement 2015.

He pointed out to efforts exerted by Yemen to realize sustainable development including protection of environment in all of its components and good use of resources.
