Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani received Wednesday separately with UN Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, Regional Director of the National Democratic Institute and Deputy Head of European Commission Gabriel Munuera Vinals in his residence here.
The meetings focused on Yemen's crisis and political settlement and confirmation on taking active position by the international community against Houthi terrorist militia and its continuous stubbornness to fail international efforts.
In his meeting with the UN envoy, al-Barakani listened from him on detailed explanation on his meetings with international parties on efforts of realizing the truce and reaching peace agreement on the basis of the truce, stopping Houthi militia's violations and finding the political framework needed for supporting Saudi mediation as a way for finding sustainable and just solution to the issue.
He was also briefed by the Regional Director of NDI plans of the institute in resuming its activities in Yemen for reviving civil work, supporting democracy and finding balances between civil society organizations and supporting their efforts assisting democratic work.
He promised providing needed support to NDI's efforts to resume its work and called it work with all institutions in the framework of the legitimacy and the parliament and the government will work on helping the institute to realize the admirable work of improving political activities in Yemen.
In his meeting with the Head of the European Commission, Gabriel Munera Vinales confirmed that it will work for realizing peace in Yemen in the country, which is under war for eight years, praising concessions made by the legal government for interests of Yemeni people.
Parliament Speaker talked during the meetings on efforts of the government and its concessions for the sake of political solution, confirming that these concessions came from keenness of the government to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people and ending conflict.
He demanded putting pressure on Houthi terrorist militia to stop its crimes and playing with interests of citizens and to abide by all articles of the truce led by opening main roads in Taiz and realizing prisoners.
He warned that if the truce does not lead to and inclusive settlement, it will be time wasting and an increase of suffering of Yemeni people and that Houthis have been giving everything without giving a single step forward but mor stubbornness and aggression against Yemeni people.
