President al-Alimi, US Secretary of State discuss bilateral relations, developments in Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council along with Member of the Council Faraj al-Bahssani held talks today, Friday, here with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The discussions which held on the sideline of Munich Security Conference covered topics relating to Yemeni-American bilateral relations and cooperation, the developments in our country, UN-led efforts to revive peace track in Yemen and end the war triggered by the Iranian-regime backed Terrorist Houthi militias.

President al-Alimi praised the distinguished bilateral ties between the two countries and the American position on the side of the Yemeni cause, Presidential leadership Council and Yemeni government in different fields.

His Excellency explained the economic and services reforms have been done by the Presidential Leadership Council and government significantly sustained by the Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

He also deeply appreciated the American humanitarian interventions to alleviate the Yemeni peoples' suffering which last year exceeded one billion dollar for the first time.

The President valued the American navy's role along with regional allies and international partners in intercepting several shipments of the smuggled Iranian weapons and drugs to the Terrorist Houthi militias and the Iran's sponsored violence networks.

He also voiced appreciation for the US administration' measures to ban smuggling the Yemeni artifacts, purchasing them.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council re-welcomed all efforts aiming to end the war, establish peace based on the nationally, regionally and internationally agreed on terms of peace reference, specially the UNSCR 22016 which stipulates disarming the Terrorist Houthi militias, ensuring the State's exclusive right to possess the weapons, enforce the rule of law.
The US Secretary of State confirmed Washington's commitment to support the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, the economic, services and institutionalizing reforms.
