Yemen government welcomes killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri

The Yemeni government welcomed the announcement by US President Joseph Biden of targeting and killing Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), "The terrorist organization Al-Qaeda represented - and still is - a strong threat to Yemen and the world, and this organization, led by the terrorist Al-Zawahiri, caused the implementation of many terrorist operations in Yemen that targeted civilians, government agencies and employees, and caused the death of hundreds of innocents."

The Yemeni government renewed its commitment to combating terrorism, and working to increase international coordination and cooperation in a manner that serves to strengthen the national institutions concerned with combating terrorism to eradicate and eliminate all terrorist organizations and to serve the protection of civilians in Yemen and all over the world.
