Presidential Decisions Bring Historic Gains for Yemeni Women
The recent republican decisions issued yesterday, Thursday, marked a new turning point in promoting the participation of Yemeni women in decision-making positions. The decisions included the appointment of Dr. Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, making her the first woman in the country's history to hold this sovereign portfolio. Moreover, Dr. Ahd Mohammed Salem Jaasous was appointed Minister of Local Administration, becoming the first woman to take on this ministry since the establishment of the republic.

Presidential office hosts elaborated discussions on woman's role in making peace

Director of the Presidential Office Yahaya al-Shuaibi has confirmed commitment of the presidential leadership and the government of pursuing partnership with all local, regional and international organizations and support to woman's participation in different decision-making departments.

In a meeting organized by Department of the Organizations in Presidency on Sunday, al-Shuaibi called upon regional and international organizations to boost its existence in the transitional capital of Aden and other provinces in coordination with concerned government bodies for the purpose of alleviating suffering of Yemeni people.

The Head of Relief and International Cooperation Team in the Presidency Mariyam al-Doani and representatives of World Food Program, German Government and Civil Society Organizations talked about chances of creating better transformation in the current partnership and easing arrival of humanitarian and developmental programs to the deserved people.

In similar context; the Department of the Organizations in the Presidency organized elaborated meeting with Yemen's partners in the UN and German Government and leaderships of women organizations, including Yemeni Woman Union and other female organizations.

The representatives of civil society organizations and female leaderships met with Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council Saleh al-Maqaleh, within consultations with the government party on the joint work plan in the framework of the tribble association financed by German Government.

The plan aims at enhancing humanitarian response capabilities, development and peace and giving Yemeni women active role in permanent and inclusive peace-making.
