The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ghaleb, discussed with the US ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin the efforts of the government and the central bank of Yemen (CBY) to achieve relative stability in the currency exchange rate and prices despite the negative effects of the global crisis and its effects on food and fuel prices.
He stressed the continuation of the efforts of the comprehensive economic reform process supported by brothers and friends financially and technically, appreciating the support provided by the US Agency for Aid Development to CBY and the Ministry of Finance in the field of restructuring, upgrading systems and building capacities.. He stressed that Yemen still needs a lot of support in all fields, especially at this stage that the country is going through.
For his part, the US ambassador affirmed his country’s continued support for Yemen, especially in the economic and humanitarian fields, and support for reforms, hoping that the situation in Yemen would witness a significant improvement in light of regional and international support, noting the importance of continuing reform efforts in the financial and monetary fields to enhance stability, achieve sustainability, and address the imbalances that exacerbated the humanitarian crisis that Yemen is experiencing, indicating that he and the mission team will continue efforts to strengthen partnership and coordination between the two friendly countries in all fields.
