Shamsan discusses with Swedish envoy ending Taiz siege

RIYADH - SABA
Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan discussed Monday with Swedish Envoy for Yemen Peter Simineby efforts of ceasefire announced by UN Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg including ending Houthi militia's siege on Taiz and opening roads to citizens.

The meeting touched upon significance of Yemeni-Yemeni talks, which are being held currently in Riyadh by a call from the Gulf Cooperation Council and confirmation of the ceasefire and stopping war to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people for seven years.

Shamsan confirmed readiness of the local authority to provide all facilitations needed for making the ceasefire successful and ending the siege on Taiz Province, which has biggest population in the country.

For his part, the Swedish envoy confirmed significance of Taiz issues and concerns to be included within any peace process, pointing out to exerting more efforts to include humanitarian priorities in Taiz within current ceasefire and forthcoming peace plans.
