[23/09/2021 07:22]

NEW YORK- SABA
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak discussed Thursday with UN Under Secretary General for Political and Peace-Building Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo mechanisms of improving partnership between Yemen and the United Nations.

The meeting tackled horizons of realizing peace in Yemen with appointing a new UN envoy to Yemen and challenges facing realization of peace despite Houthi militia's military escalation in Marib and recently in Shabwah.

Bin Mubarak renewed government's commitment to peace option on the bases of the three agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216.

He confirmed that full ceasefire is the first humanitarian step to tackle all issues, pointing out that Houthi militia's illusion of subjecting Yemeni people to their rule by force will only create more violent and war waves and the short way for gaining political aims come through dialogue.

He pointed out to situations of the UN mission in Hodeida and chains imposed by Houthi militia on it, stressing significance of relocating the mission into neutral place to be able to perform its responsibilities in accordance to the Security Council's resolutions.

The meeting also touched upon dangers posed by Safir Oil Tanker on the environment of the Red Sea and on international maritime navigation.

For her part, the UN official confirmed significance of returning to the political track to end the war in Yemen through negotiation and activating the UN mission to protect ceasefire in Hodeida and allow entrance of the humanitarian assistances without obstacles.
