Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badhieb, participated today in the high-level dialogue on Food Security in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Organized virtually under the auspices of the World Bank Group with the participation of a number of WB leaders and a group of Arab ministers, the dialogue aims to discuss solutions for the countries of the Middle East and North Africa to address the growing food insecurity in the region, and to take measures that will serve as an entry point for a deeper dialogue on Responses at the country level to address the drivers of food insecurity in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The dialogue also aims to focus on three areas: protecting the most vulnerable groups by taking advantage of social protection programs; managing food import price risks and other vulnerabilities associated with the agri-food trade; and accelerating agricultural transformation in the Middle East and North Africa, and a food system to achieve results.
