NEW YORK - SABA
Yemen's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Abdullah Assa'di stated that the putschist Houthi militia's actions and its absurd war, continuing for the seventh successive year produced the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
Speaking at the first session of the preparatory committee for the UN's 5th Conference on the less developed countries, he said " Houthi militias had continued to plunder and destroy the state's economic and productive institutions in Yemen, refuse to pay salaries, steal humanitarian aids all resulted in the collapse of the basic services and key productive sectors, the GDP contraction overlapped 50%, besides unemployment, severe poverty and starvation".
Assa'di added" Against this background the Yemeni government has been doing its utmost within the available resources to allay the humanitarian torment, working tirelessly to planning the comprehensive development programs, building peace and pushing the development drive toward the economic recovery and managing the challenges".
