FM says Houthi invented fuel crisis to finance war

Yemen’s Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadhrami said the Houthi militants have invented a fuel crisis in their regions of control to raise funds and “finance the war” they have been waging for six years.

In a meeting with the UN peace mediator’s deputy Izzi Shreim, al-Hadhrami said that by the crisis, the militants are also “aiming to harm the masses and gain politically” from the woes.

In regards to the settlement brokerage attempts, Al-Hadhrami renewed the government’s support to the UN peace mediator’s efforts hoping they will lead to ending the coup d’état and establishing a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the terms of reference.

He renewed the special interest of the government in resuming the prisoner exchange process to achieve an all-for-all prisoner exchange transaction.
