The government represented by the Road Maintenance Fund signed a contract on Sunday with the al-Khadheeri, a private company, to carry out maintenance and rehabilitation for the only unblocked road connecting the central city of Taiz to other parts of the country.

While the roads to the city are blocked by Houthi armed militants for six years, Hayjat al-Abd, an 8-km long steep winding mountain road , remains the only road and humanitarian conduit connecting Taiz with Aden, but has recently saw serious collapses.

The project signed costs YR 466,793 and takes place over four months.
