Emergency Committee holds Houthi militia accountable for Polio resurrection

The National Emergency Committee militia fully accountable for the resurrection of Polio in the militia controlled regions, namely in Sa'ada and Hajjah where the militia prevented vaccination teams from operating. It is important to mentioned that Yemen was declared free-polio country in 2006.

In a virtual session Sunday presided over by the Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik the Committee called on the UN and its agencies in charge to mount pressure upon Houthi militia to allow the vaccination and immunization team doing their jobs.

The Committee ordered the Ministry of Public Health and Population to intensify the vaccination campaigns and report about the number of the detected cases of Polio infection, the regions where detected and the challenges facing health services due to the obstructions created by Houthi militia, including looting medical aids.
