WB-financed anti-corona pandemic project discussed

The Steering Committee of Following up the Response Project of Covid-19 Pandemic held Monday its meeting through video conference in Aden.

The project is financed by World Bank.
The meeting included Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population for Initial Healthcare Sector Ali al-Walidi and Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, the Head of the Technical Office Eng. Shuaib Ali Abdullah from government party, Director of the Project Mustafa Abdullah from WB's party and Resident Representative of World Health Organization Altaf Musani from WHO's party.

The three parties discussed interventions of the World Bank in outlet checkpoints, airports and ports in government-held areas and defining WB's previous interventions.

They also discussed nature of sharing information and improving mechanism of random selection for better understanding of the pandemic outbreak and preparations for facing following waves of the pandemic.

The WHO's team provided complete review on accomplishments in the project and accomplishments in other fields.
Improving applied protocols in quarantine centers, building 19 units, providing 155 conditioners and filling up 11,717 oxygen cylinders monthly were also reviewed.

While al-Walidi stressed coordination with the government, the head of the technical office pointed to significance of the organization's commitment to transparency measures in the process of transporting equipment and improving response plan to the pandemic to keep pace with situation changes and twining with other donors.

The convening parties agreed that the government provides comments on the WHO's accomplishment's report, lists of provided materials and equipment and preparations for holding detailed meetings for discussing sharing information mechanism and preparations for any forthcoming Covid-19 waves.
