Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Brakani received on Tuesday the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.
Mr. Griffiths's proposal for a cease-fire and a comprehensive political settlement was key focus of the discussions.
Griffiths detailed al-Brakani on his initiative aiming to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis to put an end of the ongoing war and allay the Yemeni peoples suffering.
The Speaker of Parliament expressed his thanks and gratitude to Mr. Griffiths, highly appreciating his efforts. He stated that the legitimate government and the Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are seeking for peace.
" Establishing a cease-fire amid these critical conditions of the war and coronavirus is a top priority for the legitimate government", said al-Brakani.
Al-Brakani touched upon the ongoing efforts to put the Riyadh Agreement into its effects as an important step on the comprehensive peace path.
"The Parliament is supporting the UN envoy's efforts and all good offices aiming to establish a sustainable peace", al-Brakani said.
