Yemen worried Houthi militants may be keeping lid on coronavirus infections
[29/04/2020 09:05]

ADEN-SABA
Yemen's Health Ministry has voiced its "worry" the Houthi militants controlling Sana'a may be keeping a lid on infections with coronavirus.

In a statement, the ministry said it "took note of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator's Tuesday statement - on the possibility of an already spreading coronavirus - with mounting worry" that the Houthi militants may be "keeping a lid on the infection cases."

The ministry argued that the Houthi rebel militia are known for not caring about humanitarian issues and, more to the point, human life."

The ministry said it was surprised at the Coordinator's soft approach to the militia despite the fact that the militia are maintaining an information blackout on the matter, in spite of the World Heath Organization's call on world countries to be transparent about the global pandemic.
