Iranian officials 'remarks confirm Iran's involvement in fighting alongside Houthis'
[15/02/2020 01:25]

RIYADH-SABA
Yemen's Information Minister said the recent remarks by some Iranian military officials confirm "Iran's involvement in fighting alongside Houthis" against the Yemeni government. In a statement to Saba Muammar al-Eryani said that the statements that the commander of Aerospace Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Amir-Ali Hajizadeh made to Houthi Al-Masirah TV "is a clear Iranian declaration of presence in the Red Sea and an official acknowledgment of Iran's participation in the fighting on the ground, alongside the Houthis."

Hajizadeh had told the propaganda arm of the Houthi Yemeni rebels
“Today we are not only an Iranian axis of resistance . Today the “axis of resistance extends from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, from Ansarullah [Houthis] in Yemen to Hezbollah in Lebanon.”

"This is validating what we have claimed for five years: The Iranian support to Houthis is not limited to provision of experts and quality weapons, but to Iranian participation in the combat operations on the ground," al-Eryani continued, "this escalation is part of Iran's revenge for Soleimani's killing [by the US]."

Al-Eryani called on the international community and the UN Security Council to condemn the years-long blatant Iranian aggression that has caused hundreds of thousands of casualties in Yemen, exacted billions of dollars in losses on the Yemeni economy and bred the world's worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen."

Al-Eryani appealed to the UN Security Coucil to use all possible means to pressure the Iranian regime to stop their devastating interferences in Yemen and to designate the Houthis as a terrorist movement.
