SP, Sweden envoy discuss peace-building efforts

The Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani conferred Saturday with the Sweden envoy to Yemen Peter Semneby over peace building efforts, assisting the state's institutions and consultations aiming to solve the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the three terms of reference.

Al-Barakani appreciated the Sweden's efforts to get the Yemeni crisis resolved, voicing hope that the Sweden government will continue to support such efforts to implement the Swede Agreement.

He has made it clear that Iran-allied Houthi militia has never been seriously engaged in dialogue to make comprehensive peace making in Yemen. He cited the militia's violations following Stockholm as a case-in-point.

Al-Barakani stated that the government is very keen to establish a comprehensive peace that all Yemeni peoples are looking forward to.

He called for mounting pressures upon Houthi militia to implement Stockholm Agreement, considering that as an urgent priority to reach peace agreement.

The Speaker of Parliament pointed to the great good offices have been made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reach a deal to put an end of the recent event in Aden.

He also reiterated the Yemeni Parliament's support to the peace efforts given that it is the appropriate option get rid of the dilemma that the Yemeni peoples have been plagued by.

The Swedish envoy touched upon underway efforts has been made by his country to support Yemen. He affirmed that his government is supporting all efforts aiming to make comprehensive and fair peace in Yemen.

He also stated that his country is interested in implementing the Sweden Agreement and reaching sustainable peace in Yemen.
