The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)held an extraordinary meeting chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Council, with the presence of all its members Sultan al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Othman Majli, Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Salem Al-Khanbashi to discuss national and regional developments and the proposed policies to address them at all levels. Chinese Ambassador to Yemen Kang Yong stresses on the importance of Yemen's role and participation in the Initiative of Belt and Road due to Yemen's significant geographical location and its natural resources.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) Mr Yong said " Chinese side eagerly hopes that Yemen can practically contribute to building the "Belt and Road", achieve peace, stability and economic development".

He stated that the ongoing war Yemen has been experiencing as a result of the coup has prevented Yemen from practically contributing to establishing the " Belt and Road". As a result Yemen couldn't turn its potential natural resources into economic assets"

He noted that Yemen's contribution represented by Minister of Industry and Trade who signed a memorandum of understanding to promote cooperation under the framework of the " Belt and Road".

Mr Yong added" Chinese government and peoples are extremely sympathizing with the Yemeni people, provide as much humanitarian aids as possible, citing the distribution of Chinese rice as an example".
