Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States, Jamila Raja, met on Thursday with Robert Palladino, an official in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, to discuss prospects for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries across a variety of fields.

Govt officials discuss arrangements for temporary reception of illegal refugees

Deputy Minister of Interior, Mohammed Al-Amir and the Governor of Lahj Ahmad Al-Turki discussed today arrangements for receiving illegal refugees from the Horn of Africa temporarily in a shelter within a barracks in preparation for their repatriation back to their home countries.

Al-Amir raised the issue during his inspection visit to the barracks known as the Fifth Brigade Barracks in Lahj where he met governor Al-Turki the Director of Lahj Security Brigadier Saleh al-Sayed.

They discussed the situation of refugees and actions taken by the local authority and security services in the province and to develop the necessary solutions to the problem of refugee influx to the province.

efugees will be repatriated with assistance from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Emirati Red Crescent will provide the temporary shelter, food, housing and other sheltering requirements.
