Yemen has welcomed the UN Security Council’s lifting of sanctions slapped against Eritrea for nine years. Eritrea was subjected to asset freeze among other sanctions since 2009 amid allegations that the Horn African country supported al-Shabab militants in Somalia.
Yemen’s Foreign Ministry described the UN Security Council’s unanimous agreement to lift the sanctions a significant development that will contribute to internal development in Eritrea and promote the spirit of positivism and peace in the Horn of Africa region
