Riyadh Conference underscores the Unity of Yemen, supports Government to establish its authority over all Yemeni territories

The Conference on "Upholding Terms of Reference of Political Solution in Yemen" stressed the importance of full commitment to Yemen's unity, Independence and opposing any interference in its internal affairs.

The Conference organized in Riyadh Monday by the General Secretariat of the GCC.
The gathering co-chaired by Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Obeid bin Dagher and Secretary General of the GCC Dr Abdullatif Azyani.

In the final communiqué, the Conference reiterated support for the legitimate government headed President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, rejection of the coup d'état carried by Houthi putschist militia against the legitimate authority in Yemen.

The declaration stated that the terms of reference for a political solution in Yemen included the GCC's Initiative, its operational plan, outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UNSCR 2216. It also highlighted the importance of supporting the Yemeni Government to establish its authority over all Yemeni territories, and enhancing its capacities to provide all basic services for all Yemeni people, and delivering humanitarian aids and relief throughout all provinces.

The statement praised tireless efforts have been made by the GCC for reaching a political settlement in Yemen since the early days of the crisis 2011; underlining the significant humanitarian role played by KSrelief Center and relief organizations in the GCC member states as well as donor countries.

The participants condemned the Iran-backed Houthi militia's hostile acts against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by firing ballistic missiles toward the Kingdom's territories and crucial facilities.

The participants called on the International Community to cooperate for maintaining free maritime navigation and international trade movement in Bab Al-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea in order to ensure the security and safety of maritime navigation and the continuation of energy flow under security precautions to prevent attacks against the international maritime trade and lanes in accordance with International Law and International Security Council resolutions in relevant.

The statement also noted the importance of the International Community's support for implementing the outcomes of the National Dialogue and all the terms of reference.

The final communiqué highlighted the importance of supporting the UN's good offices through the Secretary General Special envoy Martin Griffiths with the aim of resolving the Yemeni crisis through political solution that shall be based on the referred to terms of reference and the needed steps to put the three terms of reference in place. The statement welcomed the call by the UN for a round of political consultations for peace between the Yemeni parties scheduled for September 6,2018 in Geneva.
