Foreign Minister Khaled Hussein Al-Yemani met Thursday with the Regional Representative of UN High Commissionaire for Refugees (UNHCR) in the GCC's member states Khaled Khalifah.
Al-Yemani's conversations with Khalifah focused on several topics pertaining to the refugees and Internally Displaced Persons(IDP) in Yemen and Yemeni refugees in Djibouti and Somalia.
Yemeni refugees' situations in Djibouti and Somalia were elaborately discussed, with special focus on underway efforts aim to help them voluntarily return to Yemen in coordination with the Yemeni Government, UNHCR and KSrelief Center.
The Foreign Minister touched upon the refugees and immigrants' situations in Yemen. He made clear that Yemen despite its tough hardships has been and will continue to be committed to its international obligations of protecting the refugees.
Concerning to what happened in one of the detention centers in Aden, Al-Yemani stated that it was a case of individual practice and the Ministry of Interior has already investigated into the incident and wrongdoers have been suspended and the investigations findings will be communicated to the UNHCR once the investigations are accomplished.
