The Arab Coalition backing Yemen's government has announced that the Saudi air defensesintercepted three ballistic missiles fired by Iranian-backed Houthi militiatoward the kingdom's territories on Wednesday.
The spokesman for the Coalition forces Col.Turki al-Maliki said in a press statement on Wednesday that: " At exactly 5:32 pm today, the air defense forces of the Arab spotted three ballistic missiles launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia toward the territories of the Kingdom of (Saudi Arabia "(.
He said that the rockets were fired from Sa'ada and north of Amranprovincesto deliberately target civilian and populated areas. One of the rockets was heading toward Riyadh city, the other towards Najran and the third towards Jazan in Saudi Arabia.
He said that Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces "managed to intercept all of them."
The fragments of the intercepted missiles"scattered in the residential areas, and no injuries were reported until the time of preparingthis statement".
He said that "this hostile action by the Houthi militia proves the continued involvement of the Iranian regime in supporting the Houthi armed group with qualitative capabilities in a clear and explicit defiance of the UN resolution no. 2216 and resolution no. 2231."
He said that these violations threaten the Saudi, regional and international securities, and that "firing ballistic missiles at populated cities and villages is a violation of the international humanitarian law."
