Al-Iryani: Media has significant impact upon individuals and societies

Minister of Information Mo'amer Al-Iryani argued that media's role and influence have been increasingly growing nowadays; particularly with the surge of social media that overwhelming conventional mass communications.

He said:" Media had become key player in peace and war", stressing that Iran is our opponent that seeks to reinstate the ancient Persian Empire. "To this end Iranian regime has opted for creating militias in Arab countries to serve its own expansion agenda. The so-called Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen is a case-in-point", Al-Iryani said.

Speaking at a seminar themed (Renewal Hope) organized by the Islamic University of Imam Mohammed bin Saud in Riyadh, the Minister said:" Unless 'Renewal Hope' operation launched by Custodian of the Two Holly Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud through KS Relief Center for Relief and Humanitarian Actions, humanitarian situation in Yemen might be worse than it is in light of Iran-backed Houthi militia's control…".

Al-Iryani added:" Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the major sponsor of the humanitarian and relief operations in Yemen through KS Relief Center that funded several relieving projects carried out by UN's agencies and other national and international organizations operate in Yemen".

The Minister of Information cited the Kingdom intervention to bail out the Yemeni Rial by depositing $2 billion, otherwise Yemeni national currency was doomed of total collapse as a result of Iran-backed Houthi militia's devastating practices over the past three years.

Al-Iryani expressed thanks on his own and on behalf of the Yemeni government represented by President of the Republic Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, Vice President Ali Mohssen and Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Obeid Bin-Dagher for the Custodian of the Two Holly Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince, Emir Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense for their supportive stances toward Yemen in different fields..
