Minister Industry and Trade Dr Mohammed Al-Maitami met Friday with Director General of UN Organization for Industrial Development() in the (UNIDO) Vienna Li Yon.
Dr Al-Maitami expressed appreciation for efforts exerted by the UNIDO to support comprehensive industrial development in the least developed countries including Yemen.
The minister cited disastrous and unprecedented damages caused by Houthi-Saleh coup on September 21,2014." The coup d'état carried out by Houthi-Saleh rebellious militias has resulted in irrevocable destruction in terms of economy, development and social fabric coherence, let alone infrastructure that has been seriously devastated', said Dr Al- Maitami.
Al-Maitami noted that Yemeni legal government gives much attention to rebuilding and economy recovery. To this end, the government works in cooperation with international community on renormalizing situations in the liberated regions and reviving economic and industrial sectors.
The minister of Industry and Trade asked the UNIDO director to help Yemen in drawing a national program aims at establishing an overall sustainable industrial development.
The UN official stated that he will do his own best to active the UNIDO's actions in Yemen and he will ask Arab Office in the UNDIO to start working on outlining a comprehensive national program for Yemen within the UNIDO capacity.
