GENEVA-SABA
Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani has acquainted the Permanent Representative of Brazil to the UN in Geneva Maria Nazareth on what atrocities the Yemeni journalists are subjected at the hands of the Saleh-Houthi coup militias.
Al-Eryani and Yemen's Permanent Representative to the UN Ali Mujawar paid a visit to the premises of the Brazilian mission and held talks with Nazareth.
Al-Eryani said the militias have been committing various forms of atrocities including closure of media offices, abduction, killing, torture, trial and sentencing of journalists to death as happened to veteran report Yahya Aljubeihi.
Al-Eryani said Yemen had a unique experience of transitional process and national dialogue but the militia which rejects transformation to democracy resorted to the use of force and has now destroyed the country's economy and capacities.
Al-Eryani said the government is striving to achieve a just lasting peace and return to the democratic transformation track based on the internationally agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UN resolutions especially the UNSC's resolution no. 2216.
