ADEN - SABA
Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani held a phone call on Monday with the European Union Mission Ambassador to Yemen Patrick Simonnet, discussing with him ongoing Houthi military escalation, attacks on civilian facilities and state institutions, violations against civilians and displaced people, and the continued siege of Taiz and worsening humanitarian conditions.
Prime Minister Zindani said the attacks on Aden International Airport and Maashiq Palace, alongside Houthi attacks on civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia and continued shelling and siege on Taiz, reflect an escalating approach that threatens Yemen’s and the region’s security and stability.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting civilians and vital facilities, maintaining public services, and restoring state authority throughout Yemen.
He also urged the international community to pressure the Houthis to end the siege of Taiz and reopen roads for civilians and humanitarian supplies.
The Prime Minister welcomed the European Commission’s allocation of an additional €22.5 million in humanitarian aid for Yemen, expressing appreciation for the EU’s continued support to the Yemeni government and its humanitarian efforts.
For his part, EU Mission's Ambassador reaffirmed the EU’s close attention to developments in Yemen and its continued support for the Yemeni government during this difficult period.
