THE HAGUE - SABA
Minister of Human Rights Mushdal Omar met today, Thursday, with representatives of the Dutch Coalition for Relief in Yemen.
The meeting aimed to explore ways to increase the response to growing humanitarian needs, support internally displaced people (IDP) and develop partnerships with Yemeni civil society organizations.
Omer called on the Netherlands and European donors to increase humanitarian funding for Yemen, ensure the continuation of life-saving programs and give priority to protecting children, women and the most vulnerable groups.
The minister deeply appreciated the significant efforts of the Dutch relief coalition, which includes more than 14 Dutch NGOs working in the humanitarian field, in easing the suffering of Yemenis and supporting affected communities.
The representatives of the Dutch coalition confirmed that Yemen will continue to be a priority in their programs and multi-year plan starting from 2027, despite the challenges facing international aid funding.
They cited their interventions in the areas of food, water, health, shelter and psychosocial support, as well as their partnership with 13 local Yemeni organizations.
They stated that they are seeking to boost funding for local partners and involve them in planning, evaluation and decision-making.
