Ambassador Ahmed Naji Discusses Ways to Support Yemen in Addressing the Humanitarian Crisis with a Hungarian Official

The Chargé d’Affaires of Yemen's Embassy in Hungary Ahmed Naji discussed Friday with Élek Zsófia, the Head of the “Hungary Helps” Program Department latest developments in the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and ways to support efforts aimed at mitigating its consequences.

Ambassador Naji addressed the humanitarian crisis resulting from the military escalation by the Houthi militias, as well as the cases of forced displacement witnessed in several Yemeni governorates as people sought safer areas.

He pointed to the continued increase in the number of displaced people and the significant pressure facing host areas amid growing urgent humanitarian needs and the widening gap between those needs and available resources.

The ambassador provided the Hungarian official with a number of documents concerning forced displacement resulting from the war, violations committed by the Houthi militias against civilians, attacks targeting service and humanitarian facilities, and the resulting impact on the population. He also highlighted urgent healthcare needs, including medicines and medical supplies.

For her part, the Hungarian official reiterated her government’s condemnation of the military actions carried out by the Houthi militias.

She expressed her regret over the humanitarian situation resulting from such practices.
