Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi met in Berlin with Alexander Radwan, Chairman of the German Parliament’s Committee on Arab-German Relations, committee member Lamia Kaddour, and German Federal Environment Ministry official Aline von Steffens.
The talks covered Yemen-Germany development cooperation in water, environment and development, with al-Sharjabi praising Germany’s support and stressing the need to expand cooperation in priority sectors. He also highlighted the role of German development institutions, particularly KfW, in supporting development and public-service projects in Yemen.
The minister briefed the German side on developments in Yemen and the latest Houthi escalation, including its humanitarian and security repercussions. He stressed that protecting waterways and ensuring safe international navigation require stronger international coordination with the Yemeni government to safeguard the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and shared interests.
Radwan reaffirmed Germany’s support for Yemen and the continuation of humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people.
