The local authority in Marib Governorate signedThursday a memorandum of understanding with the British organization Muslim Hands to implement a water-sector project aimed at increasing the production capacity of water sources and improving the efficiency and sustainability of the water supply system in Marib City.

Under the memorandum, Muslim Hands will finance and implement the drilling and development of two productive groundwater wells in the Old Marib Well Field, each to a depth of 120 meters.

The project will also include the supply and installation of fully integrated submersible pumping units, the construction of well chambers and associated civil, electrical and mechanical works.

In addition, the project will involve constructing a main water transmission pipeline measuring 10 inches in diameter and 1,850 meters in length, connecting it to the existing main transmission line and strategic reservoir, along with the installation of valves, valve chambers, and the necessary connections.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the local authority by Hussein Ahmed bin Jalal, Director General of the Water and Sanitation Corporation branch in the governorate, and Saleh al-Saqqaf, Director General of the Planning Office.

On behalf of the organization, it was signed by Saleh Qasim, the Director of the organization’s Marib office.

During the signing ceremony, Deputy Governor Dr. Abd-Rabu Miftah stressed the importance of the project in strengthening the resilience of the Public Water Corporation and enhancing its capacity to provide safe and clean water services to citizens.

He also highlighted plans to expand service coverage, ensure the sustainability of water supplies and operational efficiency and address part of the growing and significant needs in the water sector.

He praised the humanitarian interventions of Muslim Hands, particularly its projects that support recovery, respond to pressing needs, and contribute to development.
