Yemen’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic Mohammed al-Hadhrami discussed the latest developments in Yemen, particularly the Houthi militia’s threats to international shipping and global energy security, with Peter Hladik, Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Czech Foreign Ministry.

Ambassador al-Hadhrami said Yemen’s security and stability, along with the restoration of its sovereignty over its entire territory, are essential pillars for safeguarding international maritime security and the stability of global energy markets.

He warned that the Houthi militia’s advance along the western coast toward the Bab al-Mandab Strait and Yemeni islands poses not only an internal threat to Yemen but also a broader danger to regional and international security. He stressed that the escalation is being carried out at the direction and with direct support from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Al-Hadhrami underscored the importance of the Czech Republic and the European Union designating the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization, saying such a step would send a firm message to the militia and its Iranian backers that international maritime security and global energy market stability cannot be held hostage by terrorist militias.

For his part, the Czech official reaffirmed his country’s continued support for Yemen’s legitimate government, as well as Yemen’s security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He expressed his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation between the two friendly countries in a way that contributes to security and stability in the region.
