Parliament Speaker Meets With Chargé d' Affaires of Chinese Embassy
[26/08/2026 06:50]

RIYADH-SABA
The Speaker of the Parliament Sultan al-Barakani, met today, Wednesday, with the Chargé d' Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Yemen, Shao Zheng.

They conferred over Yemeni-Chinese bilateral relations and the developments in the national and regional arenas.
Al-Barakani hailed Yemeni-Chinese bilateral relations as historic, robust and constructive, highly appreciating China's supportive positions in support of Yemen, the Presidential Leadership Council, the government and the Parliament.

He also highlighted China's keenness on Yemen's unity, sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

The Chinese contribution to the development drive in Yemen since the early 1950s, including the highways, schools, hospital and technical institutes is greatly valued, he remarked.

The Speaker of the Parliament blamed the Houthi militias for prolonging the conflict.
He argued that the internationally recognized government has exhausted all available peaceful means and options, and that the Houthis' rejection of peace and their denial of agreements makes the restoration of the state and its institutions and the end of the coup an irreversible goal, whether by peace or war.

The Acting Chinese Ambassador affirmed the depth of bilateral relations between Yemen and China, pointing to the upcoming celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, saying this occasion represents an important milestone to review the path of joint cooperation and strengthen its prospects in the coming phase.

He confirmed Beijing's continued support for Yemen in various fields, expressing his country's desire to further expand areas of cooperation to serve mutual interests.

The Chinese diplomat also reiterated his country's stance in support of Yemen's unity, sovereignty, security, and stability.
