Acting Ambassador of Yemen to Kenya Abdulsalam al-Awadi met with Kenyan Chamber of Commerce Deputy Chairman Mustafa Ramadan to discuss ways to expand economic and trade cooperation between Yemen and Kenya and boost bilateral trade and investment.

The talks focused on opportunities to increase trade between Aden and Mombasa ports and strengthen business ties and partnerships between the two countries.

Al-Awadi stressed the importance of closer cooperation between the Yemeni and Kenyan private sectors. He also highlighted the serious impact of Houthi terrorist attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, saying the attacks have disrupted regional and international trade.

Ramadan, for his part, said the Kenyan Chamber of Commerce is keen to broaden economic ties with Yemen and help address challenges facing Yemeni investors and businesspeople.

He said Houthi attacks and practices have directly affected Kenya’s commercial sector, stressing that security and stability are essential for sustainable economic growth and stronger trade and investment.
