The Chargé d’Affaires of Yemen's Embassy in Damascus Mohammed Baaker held talks with Dima Al-Mousa, the Director of the Department of Agreements and Treaties at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on a number of draft bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) scheduled to be signed in the coming period.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the necessary procedural and implementation steps for bringing these agreements into effect, in a manner that would activate joint cooperation and serve the mutual interests of the two countries in the academic, health, economic, and diplomatic fields, in line with the historic ties between the two countries and the shared aspirations of their brotherly peoples.
In the same context, the Chargé d’Affaires briefed officials at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the latest developments in Yemen.
He highlighted the escalation by the Houthi militias and their targeting of civilian properties and facilities, as well as the ongoing threats to the safety and freedom of international navigation in the Red Sea.
He also outlined the efforts and measures being undertaken by the legitimate Yemeni government to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and achieve stability and development.
For her part, the Syrian Foreign Ministry official welcomed the progress made in the ongoing consultations, reaffirming her country’s steadfast support for Yemen’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity. She also stressed the Ministry’s readiness to provide all necessary legal and technical assistance to accelerate work on the agreements to be concluded between the two countries.
